Not applicable every time of course, but a person’s characters can give you great insight to their inner self or even their personal problems.
When I first met my girlfriend, we started role playing together (which is how we got together, not an uncommon story here) and without knowing too much about her, I was able to deduce that she had a somewhat difficult home life, issues with a father who was never there, and had been abused in some way when she was younger.
I wasn’t wrong.
